Generally speaking, for as long as DOHC engines have been around, they have always taken precedence over their cheaper, less complex single overhead camshaft siblings. On paper, the increased efficiency of DOHC engines are undeniable, proving time and time again to extract more juice from the same sized fruit. With the uprise in popularity of the technologically superior K series and continued prevalence of the well established B series, engines like the D series have become relics in today's world. What is regarded by many as a throwaway motor, is for others like myself, a viable option to modest performance at a low cost while achieving excellent fuel economy and stellar reliability.

Aramaki Racing B16B EG6
Watch as this EG6 rips around Central Circuit in Japan whilst hunting down a nimble FD2 Type R. The B16B engine paired with a cross ratio transmission is a great combo for the EG's lightweight chassis.

Yellow Factory EG6 CZ3700
Heres a car that you don't see much of these days, the YF EG6. I'm sure you all remember it from when it's Tokyo Auto Salon photos surfaced the web. Between the aggressive aero and wheel setup everyone seemed to enjoy it.
It embodies Japanese tuning very well from the staggered wheel setup to the staple B18C power unit. It isn't a show car however and it sees regular track events. Like any race car, it undergoes constant improvements which can all be seen in their blog.
