When putting together a project, you can have all of the right ideas in your head and all of the right tools in the garage, but if you don't have the parts to do so, well then you might as well just have a beer and look at it. Thankfully we don't have to sit idle and can simply hit up the fellas over at AFHK located in Manchester, NH for our fix of authentic Honda and Acura parts. Not just run of the mill maintenance stuff either, AFHK keeps in stock a slew of discontinued Type R goodies, aftermarket K20/K24 hybrid swap parts and even odd Mugen bits here and there. Getting back into the flow of things, I knew that I had to get back to shooting religiously if I was to continue mastering this elusive art and bringing you high quality content. Days off are few and far in between and so opportunities can be scarce but every now and again you get to sneak in a day with a tad more freedom. Dan and I both had an afternoon open a couple of weeks ago where we linked up and went about running some errands while I leisurely took shots along the way.

Damn Daniel! | Back At It Again With The SHG_Blog

Just like that, out of thin air the SHG_Blog gets a revival. Or so it appears anyhow. The reality of the matter is that with a lot of thought and restructuring, the blog is now back to being active and it's my duty to keep it in that state. In a world where different social platforms thrive *cough* Instagram *cough*, we see a dwindling amount of participation in forums and blogs. The medium certainly changes with the times and yet some of them simply cannot fade into oblivion. Forums have slowed but they still hold the same lure that got us to sign up in the first place in my opinion. Newspapers are no longer the most effective method for delivering news but they are still alive and well. With that said, allow me to tell you more about what's to come.

TOP-5 | John's Civic Si Hatchback

Hey everyone! I'm back again with another Top-5, and this one is super clean. John's Civic Si has always been one that I spend extra time looking at when I get the chance. This car is LOADED with lots of special goodies and details all of which have taken me quite a few times to spot. John has always been a fan of the uncommon and it really shows in his careful selection of parts, CL1 EuroR wheels, euro EG6 tailgate and front number-plate appliqué just to name a few. The color is perhaps the most obvious feature that draws your eye in for a closer look. I have NOT boosted the saturation on these pictures, this car is just knock-your-socks-off BRIGHT! John's hatchback is really special and is a forever evolving work in progress. John never stops changing or updating it and treats this car like just another part of his beautiful family. Enjoy!

TOP-5 | Ashton's Civic

This weeks TOP-5 is spotlighting Ashton's FA5. Ashton is well known for his immaculate FA5 and is a regular at the SHG meets. This car has taken many forms over the years, of which included many real deal Mugen parts. Originally setup as a USDM spec Mugen clone, it is now converted fully to JDM spec, with Mugen still playing a heavy roll in the overall appearance of the car. Ashton has done a superb job making sure all aspects of the car stay as clean and functional as possible and it clearly shows. I can't wait to see whats in store for this upcoming season. Anyhow, here is my Top-5 pick from a recent collection of pictures I took of this inspiring build.

TOP-5 | Chris' NSX

In an attempt to bring warmth to these cold winter months I have compiled these 5 shots of Chris' Lime Green NSX. With any luck the captured beauty is inspirational enough to get those gears turning, making next years car dreams into reality for many as it has me chomping at the bit to get my project ready for spring time. Chris' NSX is down right gorgeous. Immaculately clean, aggressively fitted and used daily (no hard parking here!) It is always a spectacle when an NSX makes an appearance at one of our car gatherings, and they hold a special place in my heart as well. No sooner was he parked that I found myself snapping away and smiling like a school girl. Enough about that, here are my current TOP-5 for this car. Enjoy!

SHG Oktoberfest Coverage | Vol 1

 This year's SHG Oktoberfest marked our 7th annual fall SHG_BBQ and keeping true to SHG tradition there was a strong turnout of some of the most well built Hondas the northeast has to offer. Also, as always there was a variety of other manufacturers present too, making for a diverse crowd of enthusiasts alike.

Preparation For The Work Week | A Casual Sunday With SHG

In typical fashion after a long and hopefully productive work week, we like to get together at one of the many SHG-Compounds and unwind. Discussions usually include the weeks developments in automotive culture, sarcasm, trash-talking, memes, and youtube. Sometimes even trash-talking sarcastic automotive culture memes on youtube. Smartphones at the ready with screenshots and quick links to the latest social media from around the globe, "watched" items on auction sites, new purchases, and updates from our favorite builds. Sources ranging from the US to Japan, UK to Australia and everywhere in between. We live and breathe the automotive lifestyle and nothing is better than sharing it all in one place on a regular basis with good friends, good beer, and good jokes.

 

Thompson Speedway's Members Track Day | 8/11/14 | Part I

What an eventful racing season it has been for SHG this summer. Starting off with Mike taking his Honda S2000 for a shakedown track day on June 21st at Thompson following its winter build up and now with Evan following suit behind the wheel of his Civic Si, SoHonda Garage continues the vehicle and driver development program at our conveniently located home circuit, Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park.

Pure Honda enthusiasts are few and far between nowadays. Overshadowed by pretentious so called "builders" seeking attention, they often go by unnoticed for lacking oversized wheels on tire sizes most shops won't dare try to mount. Let's not even mention the excessive subframe bracing or alignment that often goes along with those cars. When did proper fitment and quality parts go out of style? 2014 RI National Guard Air Show | Quonset Point

Well here's a first, a non Honda blog post. It was due to happen sooner than later with the growth of the SHG_Blog but what better way to break from the mold? After 2 years away following last year's show canceling, the RI Air Show came back in style for 2014 by putting together a sensory packed event at Quonset Point for the unbeatable price of zero dollars. Yep, zilch. Guess who went!

Cars And Coffee | Pure Java Beans

Burnt and exhausted from being outside in the sun all day long Saturday for the RI National Guard Air Show, meant that C&C on Sunday morning was at minimum, going to be a drag. It didn't help that we stayed up till the AM having drinks but that wasn't going to prevent us from attending our favorite monthly event; especially not one hosted at a coffee shop!

K-Made X SHG | SHG_Kanani's Mugen Si

The 2008 Mugen Si as you probably know, is a rare breed. With only a 1000 units ever made, only a select few can say they have one of Honda's top performance offerings from recent years. SHG_Kanani from Hawaii is one of those as she gets to enjoy hers everyday around the beautiful Island of Kauai.

The guys from K-Made, which is a small group of tightly bonded friends like SHG, were looking to shoot a video feature and they knew just the right candidate. With Andrew Obiano behind the lens, he was able to capture some breathtaking footage. Austin Tacsiat got in on the action too so be sure to check back for his photo set soon!

SHG_Mike's 2001 Honda S2000 | Mini-Shoot

After spending Sunday morning hanging out at C&C, we felt that it was simply too early to call it a day. We hit the road to Elyson's house a few minutes away and got to leisurely firing off some snaps. There aren't too many opportunities for me to hone my skills during the winter so the empty street was just what I needed.

Worcester Cars And Coffee | A Monthly Ritual

Do these meets still need an intro? After becoming a hit last season, Chris Cavalieri decided to keep the same layout for this year and let me tell you; none of us are complaining. I mean, who doesn't like a calm Sunday cruise to grab a coffee? As long as we are welcomed by InHouse Coffee, it's looking like a format that's going to stay.

A rather slow month for us here at the blog with the winter weather keeping our project cars off the road but not to despair! The new season will be getting fired up rather soon as the first Cars and Coffee event of the year is less than 2 weeks away. There has been significant progress made in various fronts of SHG and plenty of it will be shown here on the blog and in our Facebook page.
